We specialize in French immersion, the fastest and most effective way to learn a new language. Be ready to be spoken to in French from the moment you enter the class until the moment you leave! Our method is conversation-based and focuses on developing your ability to speak in real life situations. You got it: COMMUNICATION is our focus at the AFC! So, do not worry if you make mistake here and there, we will help you with that, the most important is to be able to convey your message to a French speaking interlocutor.

Our group classes offer follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and includes 6 levels from A1 (complete beginner) to C2 (fluency).

We offer a mix of in-person and online classes. For in-person classes, COVID vaccination is required. Masking is optional.

Summer break: August 19- August 23 (no adult classes)

late fall session: october 21 - dec 20 (no class on thanksgving week)

how to get started?

I am ready - how do I get started?

Step 1: Take a free placement test to assess your language level (if you are a true beginner of French, you can skip this step). Start here!

Step 2: Based on our recommendation, pick a class that fits your schedule from the list below. We offer 3 types of classes:

Classes using the “Cosmopolite” textbook curriculum for those who feel more comfortable with a structured learning (coded in green)
Classes based on questions/requests from students in class (called “Specialty classes”) for those who enjoy a bit more spontaneity! (coded in yellow)
“Pop up classes” / short temporary classes focusing on specific topics such as French conversation (“Les Petites Conversations”), grammar (“Advanced Grammar”), translation, politics, art, history etc.… (coded in blue)

Step 3: Register! Sign up takes place online. You can pay with your credit/debit card or via bank transfer (Zelle only). We also accept check, which is our preferred method of payment (mailed or brought to the AFC office not later than the first day of class). Class sessions begin every 8 weeks to suit different paces and to fit all lifestyles.

Please note: Although optional, you may want to consider membership with us as members receive a discount on group classes and books.
